This is a Sport Coordinator job. This is NOT a referee job. Sport Coordinators run the sport on the field. Referees officiate the games. Two different jobs. If you want to officiate, apply to our Flag Football Referee posting instead.
This posting is flag football only.
Pay: $18 per hour. You are paid hourly, not per game. 1099 independent contractor.
Schedule:
Saturdays 7am-12pm at Horizon Park and Vista del Camino, starting 9/19/2026.
Sundays 7am-12pm at Thunderbird Park and Chaparral Park, starting 9/20/2026.
What you do every game day:
Wear the i9 Sports shirt, lanyard, khaki shorts and i9 hat. Look sharp.
Arrive 1 hour before the first practice. Site Managers arrive 1.5 hours. Coordinators arrive 1 hour.
Get the day's practice plan and the sportsmanship value. Walk the plan with the Site Manager.
Set up practice areas and fields for flag football. Cones, flags, benches, signage. Pull equipment from the Site Manager.
Greet kids and coaches by name at the canopy or the field. Review the practice plan with each coach. Review the skills checklist with parents.
Make sure coaches run fun, safe, instructional, age appropriate practices. Inexperienced coaches use the i9 practice plans. Step in and help coaches.
Games start on time. Step in if a coach needs help. Make sure the referee has control of the game. You are not the referee.
After the game, hand out the sportsmanship award in front of the team and the parents. Check in with the coaches.
20-10-1: 20 kid interactions, 10 parent interactions, 1 WOW.
Take down signage, pull equipment, leave the field clean and packed for next week.
Tell the Site Manager about any issues.
What you need:
18 or older.
Sterling Volunteers background check.
Email and a cell phone.
Reliable transportation.
Experience is helpful but not required. We will train you.
