Program Overview:
i9 Sports is seeking a passionate and experienced basketball Instructor for our Enrichment Program at Silicon Valley Academy. The program will focus on basketball skills and activities for children aged 4-12. This is a great opportunity to inspire and teach basketball to young learners in a fun and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach engaging and age-appropriate basketball lessons for children aged 4-12, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Develop and execute drills that promote basic basketball techniques such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control. Tailor activities to different age groups and skill levels.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for students, ensuring proper safety protocols and equipment usage are followed.
- Supervise children during enrichment time, providing clear instructions and ensuring all students are actively engaged and participating.
- Offer constructive feedback to students on their performance, encouraging progress and fostering a love for the sport.
- Instill important values of teamwork, communication, and good sportsmanship while playing.
- Adjust the complexity of drills and activities based on the skill levels and abilities of the students, ensuring that each child is appropriately challenged and supported.
- Provide feedback and updates on students' progress as needed, maintaining a positive relationship with parents or guardians.
- Participate in a weekend training session to improve teaching strategies and align with the program’s goals and curriculum.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the basketball program by suggesting new activities, drills, and ideas that may enhance the learning experience.
- Create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere where students are excited to learn, grow, and develop their basketball skills.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in coaching or teaching basketball, particularly with children, preferred.
- Comfortable managing and engaging children aged 4-12 in a group setting.
- Ability to clearly communicate with children, parents, and staff, and provide positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
- Genuine interest in helping children develop a love for basketball and sports.
- Must be available for a weekend training session.
- Demonstrate dependability and arrive on time for all scheduled sessions.
